Tom Chang MD Solutions to Improve Patient Experience
Tom Chang MD, a prominent figure in the field much like a concierge doctor, is the founder of Acuity Eye Care with multiple locations across California. He also founded the Retina Institute of California in 2005 to study retinal diseases. Dr. Chang has long been a leader in breakthrough treatments of serious eye conditions. He has also developed improved treatment methods for typical eye exams. Patients who schedule eye exams with Acuity Eye Care no longer need to have their eyes dilated.
Tom Chang MD Proposes Solution to Missed Eye Exams
The earlier an ophthalmologist such as Dr. Chang catches an abnormality, the better the patient’s treatment outcome. Unfortunately, too many patients put off routine eye appointments due to the need to dilate their eyes. While dilation is necessary for optometrists to view the entire eye, it can be uncomfortable and inconvenient for patients. The typical patient still deals with blurry or sensitive vision for several hours after the appointment.
He understands patient concerns and has created a minimally invasive alternative. The method still allows optometrists and ophthalmologists to obtain the health data they need while patients remain comfortable. A typical appointment at Acuity Eye Centers started by Tom Chang MD takes 30 minutes or less to complete.
Dr. Chang uses a method called Acuity360 to check the health of a patient’s eyes with help from a technician. This simple and non-invasive method allows him to check for signs of the following:
- Cataracts
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Macular degeneration
- Thyroid disorders
Tom Chang MD has worked hard to ensure patients do not experience long wait times for appointments or results. Patients build long-term relationships with Acuity eye care professionals because of this. Another way he improves the patient experience is by making sure patients have continuity of care. Doctors within the practice work together to serve and monitor patients at all phases of their eye care journey.
